SMP Brand Permanent magnetic chucks are manufactured from magnetised materials and exhibit a constant magnetic field without need of an electric current. Because these materials are highly magnetised materials, they do not lose their magnetic force. This also eliminates the need for electrical connections, switches, brushes, wires and power supply. The magnet is made of a special alloy and has high power and indefinite life. Alignment of the poles determines the state of the magnet (whether it is on or off). In operation, these poles are physically moved to activate and de-activate the permanent magnet. These products are best used for Surface Grinding and light duty machining because of their reliability and safety, but as the demands of the machining operations increase and the machines are scaled up, the mechanical effort required to overcome magnetic friction to turn the poles on or off becomes too great.

Full magnetic surface to all edges (90% magnetic area) – powerful holding over entire chuck surface. Micro-Fine pole divisions – for more uniform magnetic holding of thin and small parts. Solid construction top plate with brass – protects permanent magnetic pack from penetration of EDM fluids. Provides stronger and more rigid work surface. Lowest height of any micro-fine permanent chuck – for added clearance on larger workpieces. Magnetic field does not affect EDM operation. Milling finish on sides and ends. Angled backrest and end stops for better alignment of jobs on surface.

Application:

·      Suitable for grinding thin, thick and small workpieces.  

·      Extremely low profile, 45 mm for small to medium sizes and 50 mm for large sizes and light weight.

·      A wide attractive area on the chuck work face, allowing the corners to be utilized.

·      The magnetic force ON-OFF handle can be operated lightly thanks to a special slide design.

·      The side insert type used allows the handle to be detached when it is not used.

·      A micro-fine pitch type having very fine pole-to-pole pitches. This design provides effective holding power not only on thick workpieces but also on thin and small workpieces.
